MASON CITY — Ardella Anderberg, 87, of Mason City died Saturday (May 21, 2005) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Skilled Nursing Unit. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Amsterdam Cemetery, Kanawha, Iowa.

Ardella was born Jan. 19, 1918, in Albert Lea, Minn., the daughter of Jay Halbert and Anna Marie (Oustad) Severson. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and moved to Mason City where she was a graduate of Mason City Junior College and Hamilton's Business College. She was employed in Mason City as a secretary in various offices. Ardella was united in marriage to Stanley W. Anderberg on Sept. 8, 1940, in Albert Lea, Minn. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1977. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose, and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter, Vicki French of Mason City; one son, Jim Anderberg, and wife, Jean, of Vienna, Maine; five grandchildren: Aaron, Michael, and Christopher Anderberg, Elizabeth and Robee French; two great-grandsons, Nick O'Dell and Drake Anthony; a special cousin, Pauline Brager, of Omaha, Neb.; and several other nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stan Anderberg in 1977; son, Jay in 1999; son-in-law, Robert French in 1996; and a sister, Mrs. Eugene (Bernice) Thorpe in 2003. Major Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue in Mason City, is in charge of arrangements.
