Jerry Rust, 75, of Goldfield, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Careage of Clarion in Clarion. Memorial services for Jerry Rust will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Ewing Funeral Home, 118 East Second Street in Kanawha with Pastor Jon Rollefson officiating. Burial will be at Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Ewing Funeral Home in Kanawha and will continue one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Gerald LeRoy Rust was born November 13, 1935 to Raymond and Agnes (Thompson) Rust on the family farm near Kanawha. Jerry attended school in Kanawha, and later moved to Mason City where he was employed by Stockberger Trucking for many years. Jerry later worked for Moorman Manufacturing, and farmed for 12 years in the Buffalo Center and Goldfield areas. He also worked as a carpenter, building several homes in Goldfield. Jerry was united in marriage to Joyce Aukes in 1958 in Mason City. Jerry later married Sharon Arne, who passed away on April 30, 2001.

Jerry’s life revolved around raising and caring for horses. He raised quarter horses for years, and loved riding and attending horse shows and sales. He made sure that his children and grandchildren were in the saddle at the earliest possible age. Jerry also enjoyed dancing, and frequently attended dances around the area with his special friend Bernice Haugen. Faith was an important part of Jerry’s life; he was formerly a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield and was a regular attendee at the First Congregational Church in Forest City.

Jerry is survived by his children, Jean (Steve) Wilcox of Atlantic, Iowa and Jeff (Annette) Rust of Littleton, Colorado; grandsons Derrick (Vanessa) Wilcox of Kansas City, Missouri, Kevin Wilcox of Maryville, Missouri, Tyler (Casie) Rust of Littleton, Colorado, and Nathan Rust, also of Littleton; one great-grandson Grady Wilcox; special friend Bernice Haugen of Forest City; Amy (Steve) Haugland and family of Eagle Grove; Tracey (Jeff) Whipple and family of Sheldon; brother Merle Rust of Kanawha and sister-in-law Harriet Rust of Mason City, along with numerous other nieces and nephews, other family members and friends. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon, brothers Leonard and Richard, and sister-in-law Carla Rust.
