August 13, 1956 -- June 1, 2007

A beautiful baby girl, Cheryl Ann, was born on August 13, 1956, to Thomas and Leona Leerar Welter at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital at Britt, Iowa. She was baptized, received first communion and was confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Corwith, Iowa, where she sang in the choir. She attended Corwith-Wesley School, where she participated in speech, drama, band, chorus and cheerleading. After graduation in 1974, she attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City, Iowa. She was employed at Hamilton College from September, 1975 to July 1981. Cheryl was then employed at Armour Food Company from July, 1981 to March 1982. While living in Mason City, Cheryl bonded with the Tom Fitzgerald family and they became a part of her life. In March of 1982, she became employed at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa for Tom Tibbits as an administrative Assistant until 2005.

On August 13, 1983, Cheryl was united in marriage to Mark Andersen. They made their home in Fort Dodge, where Mark had a used car business. They attended many car shows, races and sporting events with their friends. She became a par-ttime employee at J. C. Penney in Fort Dodge in May, 2006 until April, 2007. She enjoyed people, her home, baking, yard work, flowers and decorating for different holidays, especially Christmas. People who were acquainted with Cheryl knew her as a vivacious, caring and giving person. She was deeply loved and well-respected by her many friends and relatives. Some of her interests were collecting Coca-Cola and Elvis memorabilia, reading, piano playing, auto racing, basketball, playing cards, picture puzzles and singing. She also enjoyed animals, especially her pet dog, Patches. Family was so important to her that she organized a Welter Family Reunion weekend at Mason City in 2002. She always remembered birthdays with cards and gifts.

Corwith was her home town and she was always interested in her Dad’s business and helped out when she was home on weekends. Cheryl even ran the business so her parents could take a week’s vacation. Later she helped type grant applications for the new Library-City Hall and purchased the conference table and chairs for the Council room in memory of Grandpa and Grandma Welter.

Cheryl will be sadly missed by Mark and her Mother. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her Dad, Thomas Welter in 2004, Grandpa and Grandma Welter, Grandpa and Grandma Leerar, uncles, Lester Leerar, Doug Skitch, Dan Day, aunts, Mary Jane DeGroote, Roberta Welter and Jean Welter and cousins, Marty and Mark Leerar, Shannon Koenen, Meagan Foy, Baby Trunkhill and Baby Jon Welter.
