Floyd Linheart Armstrong, the son of Charles and Alma Ida (Riley) Armstrong, was born January 11, 1922, in Lone Rock, Iowa. Floyd went into the service and proudly served under General Patton during WW II. Following his discharge Floyd returned to the Livermore area. On November 18, 1947, Floyd married Dorothy Fish. The couple made their home in the Wesley area where their four children were born: Melvin "Nick", Calvin, Debra, and Larry. Floyd drove dump trucks and cement trucks for more than 40 years. The last was for Peck Ready Mix and Croft Ready Mix of Algona. He loved driving trucks, but one thing he loved more was fishing. He and Dorothy spent many days by lakes fishing. He passed his love for fishing on to his grandchildren. Floyd was a member of the Corwith America Legion and Algona V.F.W.

Survivors include his three sons: Melvin "Nick" Armstrong of Corwith; Calvin Armstrong and his wife, Vila, of Algona; Larry Armstrong and his wife, Julie, of Wesley; one daughter Debra McDermott and her husband, Kevin, of Britt; eight grandchildren; and one brother Donald "Dutch" and his wife, Tootie, of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy.
