Elmer E. Nedved, the son of Aldrich and Lillian (Tlach) Nedved was born Sept. 9, 1926, at Britt. He attended rural school near Duncan and later graduated from Hayfield Consolidated School in 1944. On Dec. 5, 1953, he was married to Betty Smit from Meservey at the Presbyterian Church, in Albert Lea, Minn. Elmer lived in the Duncan and Hayfield area all his life where he was a farmer and worked as a security guard at Winnebago Industries. After a stroke in August of 1981, he retired and moved with Betty into Hayfield in 1982. He enjoyed his family, being around his grandchildren, wildlife, taking short trips and loved getting into a car and going for a ride. He did have a hard time putting into words what he felt but as a family we knew he appreciated each and every one of the family members.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Hayfield; four children, Arlyn Nedved and his wife, Mary, of Garner; David Nedved and his wife, Bertie, of Garner; Jody Young and her husband, Dr. Alan, of Garner; and Judy Boekelman and her husband, Myron, of Lakota; eight grandchildren, Jill, Kim and Laura Nedved, Nathan, Aaron and Bradley Nedved, Michelle and Rachel Boekelman; and expecting a ninth grandchild; two brothers, Donald Nedved and his wife, Donna Mae, of Britt and Aldrich Nedved Jr. and his wife, Joanne, of Kansas City, Mo.; his mother-in-law, Ida Smit, of Meservey; a sister-in-law, Leola Nedved, of Britt; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Arnold Nedved.
