BELMOND, IA - Anna Churchouse, 87, passed away Friday (March 12, 1999) at the Belmond Health Care Center in Belmond. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond with Pastor Marcus Pluff officiating. Burial will take place in the Amsterdam Cemetery, Goodell. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home.

Anna, the daughter of Fredrick and Anna Zell Albers was born Nov. 24, 1911, near Klemme, Iowa. She grew up in the rural Klemme and Goodell areas. She attended school in Goodell, graduating from the Goodell High School in 1930. After high school Anna worked at the Case Hotel and at The Candy Kitchen in Belmond. Anna was united in marriage with Robert Churchouse on Dec. 6, 1947, in Belmond. The couple made their home in Belmond. They lived nearly 50 years in the same house, where Anna was a housewife and mother. She was not only a mother to her daughter JoAnn, but also a mother to her granddaughter, Amy. Anna was a common, honest person who treasured the friends she spent time with. Her family and friends will long remember the nicknames she had for everything. She was a charter member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Belmond, and a charter member of the Belmond Women's Bowling Association. Anna served on the county election board for many years and was very knowledgeable on politics and elections.

Anna is survived by her husband, Robert; her daughter, JoAnn Covington of Goodell; granddaughter, Amy Covington of Waterloo; sister, Jennie Lieuwen of Belmond; brother, Edward Albers of Mason City; three nieces, Shirley Fulton of Belmond, Alice Bryant of Minneapolis, and Christine Uhlenhopp of Alexander; three nephews, Alton Albers of Nevada, Mike Bryant of Ames, and Patrick Dunavan of Mason City; three great-nieces and three great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Fred, Alvin and John; and one sister, Johanna. Dugger Ewing Funeral Home.
