Clear Lake Mirror Reporter, IowaLeonard Albert Hrubes, 79, of 807 N. 8th St., Clear Lake, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001 at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake, Iowa. A Funeral Mass was held Friday, Nov. 23, at St. Patrickıs Catholic Church, Clear Lake, Iowa with Msgr. Robert Hogan officiating. Graveside services were at St. Johnıs Cemetery, Duncan, Iowa. Family suggests memorials to Leonard A. Hrubes memorial fund.
Leonard was born Sept. 10, 1922 in rural Britt, Iowa the son of Albert and Ann (Wellik) Hrubes. He attended rural school. He married Arlene Buseman Nov. 23, 1943 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Duncan, Iowa. He farmed in the Klemme, Rudd and Forest City areas. They later moved to Garner, Iowa, and in 1971 moved to Clear Lake. He worked for Woodford Wheeler Lumber Company in Clear Lake until his retirement. Leonard enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Patrickıs Catholic Church, Clear Lake, Iowa.
Leonard is survived by his two children, Jim Hrubes and his wife, Jan, Sun City, Az.. and Mary Mitthun and her husband, Marlin, Thompson, Iowa; five grandchildren, Bob Hrubes, Des Moines, Iowa, Kerri Hrubes and her fiancé, Mark Scott, Pearland, Texas, Jackie Mitthun and his wife, Kim, Thompson, Iowa, Kurt Mitthun and his wife Paula, Thompson, Iowa, and Julie Armstrong and her husband, Paul, Buffalo Center, Iowa; nine great-grandchildren, Casandra, Kyle, Cody, Chelsey, Kory, Nicholas, Jake, Haley and Megan; and one sister, Margaret Katuin, Garner, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene; and one brother, Elmer Hrubes.
