CLEAR LAKE - Arlene A. Hrubes, 75, of 807 N. Eighth St., died Monday (Nov. 6, 2000) one day before her 76th birthday at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clear Lake, with Monsignor Joseph Slepicka officiating. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. John's Cemetery in Duncan. Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today with a wake service at 6 p.m. at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake.

Arlene was born Nov. 7, 1924, in Klemme, the daughter of George and Anna (Rothes) Buseman. She attended school in Klemme. Arlene married Leonard Hrubes on Nov. 23, 1943, at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan. They farmed in the Klemme, Rudd, and Forest City area and then moved to Garner, where she worked at the Longhorn Restaurant. They moved to Clear Lake in 1971. Arlene and Leonard celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1993. She enjoyed sewing and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Clear Lake.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Leonard Hrubes, of Clear Lake; two children, Jim Hrubes and his wife, Jan, of Sun City, Ariz., and Mary Mitthun and her husband, Marlin, of Thompson; five grandchildren, Bob Hrubes, of Des Moines, Kerri Hrubes and her fiancé, Mark Scott, of Pearland, Texas, Julie Armstrong, and her husband, Paul, of Buffalo Center, Kurt Mitthun and his wife Paula, of Thompson and Jackie Mitthun and his fiancée, Kim Asmus and her daughter Haley; and six great-grandchildren, Casandra Meyer, Kyle Meyer, Cody Meyer, Kory Mitthun, Nicholas Mitthun and Jake Scott. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Lester, Irwin, Melvin and Wayne Buseman; and one infant sister, Marie Buseman. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.
