He attended classes at the Forest City Schools, which he enjoyed very much, graduating with the class of 2005. Ryan enjoyed watching television, especially Scooby Doo cartoons and his favorite NASCAR driver, Greg Biffle, race. He also enjoyed having a lot of people around him. Ryan was very proud of his Special Olympics medals and especially enjoyed participating in bowling. For parents of all special children: We look like everyone else. We work, we laugh, we cry, we struggle, we soar, we are human and because of what we have lived, we see through special eyes designed just for us. We will not tolerate injustice, we will not settle for the status quo, we question authority, we take nothing for granted, we are thankful for the small things and we love big. We have truly been kept in the palm of His hand. We are the people with the ultimate gift — our special child.

Those left to cherish and celebrate his memory are his parents, Becky (Gayken) Mausehund of Kanawha and Terry Mausehund of Neola, Iowa; three brothers, Jason Gayken of Garner and Terry Gayken and Tony Gayken of Britt; maternal grandparents, Harold (Bud) and Beverly Gayken of Britt; paternal grandparents, Veleta Mausehund and Rick Gremmer of Wesley and Larry and Sue Mausehund of Rudd; paternal great-grandmother, Mary Mausehund of Nora Springs; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and all of his friends at Krysilis (North Central Human Services). Ryan was preceded in death by an uncle, Bruce Gayken, and a cousin, Eric Grady. Ewing Dugger Funeral Chapel, Britt.
