KLEMME, IA - Harmanna Heikea (Amanda Kate) Wessels, 91, of Klemme, died Thursday (March 1, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City at the age of 91. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme, with the Rev. Donna Buckman officiating. Burial will be in Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home in Klemme.

Amanda was born July 2, 1909, the daughter of German immigrants, Conrad and Elise (Harms) Meints in Richland Township near Sheffield. Amanda was united in marriage with Fred Wessels on March 12, 1931, near Meservey. They farmed near Meservey until 1955 when they moved to Klemme, where she still lived until the time of her recent illness. Her husband passed away in 1983. She enjoyed her many flowers, needlework, friends and family. She was a member of the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme. Amanda is survived by five children, Arlene and Bill Harson, of Kanawha, Larry and Carol Wessels, of Rockwell, Lavonne and Eldon Doane, of Thornton, Karon and Jim Clements, of Cedar Falls, and Sharon and Roger Frank, of St. Ansgar; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Freda Wessels, of Belmond, Ann Wessels, of Denver, Colo., and Gladys Wessels, of Klemme. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; granddaughter, Linda Kay Wessels; brothers, Harm, Abe, A.J. and Bill Meints; and sister, Minnie Kriens. Tenold Funeral Home.
