SIGOURNEY, IA - Louise Buschmann, 83, most recently of Sigourney, formerly of the Klemme and Belmond areas, and a native of Hume, Mo., died Saturday (Aug. 15, 2009) at the Manor House Care Facility, Sigourney, where she had been for a very short time. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at the Peace Reformed Church, 1907 200th St., Garner, with Pastor Harvey Opp of the Peace Reformed Church, along with Pastor John Hembry of the Sigourney United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Peace Reformed Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial in Louise's name may wish to consider the Peace Reformed Church, the Sigourney United Methodist Church, or to charity of their own choice.

Louise Dudley, the daughter of Joseph and Clemme (Smith) Dudley, was born on July 16, 1926, near Hume, Mo., the youngest of nine children. She attended Hume area schools and graduated from Hume High School with the Class of 1944. On Sept. 20, 1950, Louise was united in marriage to Harm G. Buschmann, at Eldorado, Mo. The couple's union was blessed with two sons, Paul and Philip. The couple raised their sons at Klemme and farmed in Klemme and Belmond area. Louise was a lifelong homemaker and nurturing wife, mother and grandmother. She was always a lady with a positive strong Christian faith. In earlier years she was active in the Immanuel Reformed Church in Klemme, then for many years she was was an active member of the Peace Reformed Church rural Garner. In recent years she was active in the Sigourney United Methodist Church after moving to Sigourney from Belmond in April 2000.

Louise's family was always the focus of her life enjoying any occasion that meant they would be in the presence of one another. Her grandchildren noted that Grandma Louise's homemade chocolate chip cookies were "The Best in the World!" Louise loved animals, her favorites were her dogs and she was especially fond of her rat terrier and in more recent years her pet shitzu. Louise's family and friends will always remember her as a lady who rarely complained and always put others needs before her own. She persevered in whatever life challenges she faced including impairments placed upon her resulting from having polio in her childhood years. All who knew her well will reflect fondly on her great sense of humor and warm and sweet personality.

Her legacy will be cherished in the lives her surviving sons, Paul (Susan) Buschmann, of Platte City, Mo., and their children, Jonathan (Stephanie) Buschmann, of Kansas City, Mo., Zachary Buschmann, of Columbia, Mo., and Sarah Buschmann, of Platte City, Mo.; son, Philip (Cyrena ) Buschmann, of Sigourney, and their son, Kyle (Penney) Sheetz, of Leon; two great-grandchildren, Elly and Joe Sheetz, of Leon; her brother, Marvin (Margaret) Hess, of Hume, Mo.; and her sister-in-law, Mary Hess, of Hume, Mo.; also many nieces and nephews Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harm in 1997, five brothers, and two sisters.
