KANAWHA, Iowa — Grover W. Hasty, 89, of Kanawha, passed away Monday (March 15, 2004) at the Kanawha Community Home. Funeral service for Grover Hasty will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Kanawha Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. John Meyer and Janelle Siffring, AiM, officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery near Kanawha. Friends may greet the family from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, 118 E. Second St. in Kanawha, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Grover William Hasty, son of Paul and Martha Ries Hasty, was born Aug. 3, 1914, in Mackinaw, Ill. He came to Iowa with his parents at the age of six months and settled on a farm southwest of Kanawha. In 1937, he married Alva Skauge. They started farming northwest of Kanawha in 1938 and continued until their retirement. To them two children were born, Ilene and Steven. Grover and Alva enjoyed many camping trips over the years. The couple has resided in Kanawha for the past three years. Grover was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church and had served as a committee member for the Boy Scout Board. Grover is survived by his wife, Alva; daughter, Ilene Timmerman and her husband, Dale, of Fort Dodge; son, Steven and his wife, Shirley, of Kanawha; granddaughter, Kelly Timmerman of Waterloo; grandson, Scott Hasty and his wife, Dina, of Kanawha; and granddaughter, Shannon Hasty of Kanawha; and many relatives and friends.
