FORT DODGE, IA - Dorothy Westin, 71, of Fort Dodge, died Saturday (Jan. 6, 2001) at Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel, Fort Dodge. Burial will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fort Dodge.

Dorothy M. Shelton was born April 13, 1929, in Kanawha where she also attended school. On Nov. 6, 1947, she married Carl Westin in Pine City, Minn. After their marriage the couple made their home in Kanawha and moved to Fort Dodge in 1965. Her husband died February 11, 2000, and after his death she continued to live in Fort Dodge. Dorothy was a homemaker and also held some jobs outside of the home.

She is survived by her five children, Jacqueline Rieder of Catoosa, Okla., Deborah Olsen of Winchester, Ky., John Westin of Broken Arrow, Okla., Mitch Westin, and Scott Westin of Tulsa, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Brunes of Goodell, Marjorie Nord, Mason City, Louise Adreon, of Britt and Carole Taylor of Mason City; and one brother, James R. Shelton, of Cedar Falls. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Westin in 2000, her parents, James and Marie (Freerksen) Shelton and a great grandson.
