Florence Margaret Lund was born at Bancroft, on November 20, 1912, the eldest of eight children born to Olaf Sigvart Lund and Lydia (Rentz) Lund. She grew up in Bancroft and LuVerne, graduating from the Bancroft High School. After leaving home, she worked for a farm family near Renwick, where she met her husband-to-be, Tjeran Nerem, when he rescued her team of horses from a snowdrift. They married on Christmas Day, 1936. The couple lived in the Renwick area until World War II. Florence then lived with her sister, Dorothy in Algona until she was able to join Tjeran at military bases in Texas and Georgia. After the war, they again settled in the Renwick-Corwith area farming for over 30 years before retiring to Kanawha. They adopted a daughter, Kristi in 1948. She performed the many tasks of a farm wife superbly. Tjeran Nerem died in 1992. Florence later married Edward Schroeder and shared her last years with him. She loved music and played the piano and organ. She was active in the Kanawha Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Schroeder, of Kanawha; her daughter, Kristi Nerem of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two sisters, Delores (Walter) Rekward of Davenport and Lillian Wier of Renwick; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tjeran Nerem; two brothers, Olaf and Adolph Lund; and three sisters, Martha Vaudt, Dorothy Zeigler and Jennie Nerem.
