Margaret Irene Glawe was born on March 30, 1912, near Corwith, Iowa, to James and Elizabeth Krauss Sloan. She received her education in Corwith, graduating from the Corwith High School in 1930. After her schooling, Margaret helped her parents on the farm. Margaret was married to George R. Glawe on February 14, 1934 at her parents’ home southeast of Corwith. The couple farmed west of Corwith until 1945. They moved to a farm 2 miles north of Corwith and farmed until their retirement in 1974. They continued living on the farm. Margaret and George enjoyed wintering in Texas and did so for 33 years. Margaret’s husband, George preceded her in death on July 24, 1997. Margaret lived on the farm until she became a resident of the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha, Iowa on August 30, 2001. Margaret was an active member of the Corwith United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also belonged to the KYN Club in Corwith. Margaret enjoyed quilting, crafts, growing flowers, gardening, playing the organ at home and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed baking pies, cookies and cakes.

Margaret died on Monday, November 26, 2007, at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha, Iowa. She was 95. Surviving are her children, Muriel Imlay and husband, Robert, Clear Lake, Iowa, Cecil Glawe and wife, Melissa, Corwith, Iowa and Dennis Glawe and wife, Delores, Wesley, Iowa. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and her brother, Glenn Sloan and wife, Phyllis, Corwith, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, her great grandson, Jonathan Gremmer and her brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Alice Sloan.
