B. Virgil Ruter, 66, of Kanawha, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2000, at his home in Kanawha. Virgil, the son of Hieko and Pearl Brouwer Ruter, was born January 24, 1934 near Kanawha. He received his education in the Kanawha schools. Virgil was united in marriage to Karen Enabnit Dahlen on July 24, 1982. The couple moved to Arkansas in 1985, where Virgil operated a road maintainer for 11 1/2 years, retiring in May of 1998. They returned to Kanawha in February of 1999, where they have since resided. Virgil enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and traveling, He also enjoyed visiting with his many friends.
Virgil was baptized in the Wright Christian Reformed Church, where as a young man, he made profession of faith. He was also a member of the Twin Lakes Baptist Church in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and most recently a member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Karen, of Kanawha, two sisters: Gen. Seebeck and husband, Clarence, of Britt, and Beverly Dewaard and husband, John, of Kanawha; one daughter, Wendy Grove and husband, Tim; and two sons: Brian and Jason Ruter, step children: Gene Dahlen and wife, Ginger, Patty Dahlen, Terri Leiken and husband, Shawn, Chris Alsup and husband, Ronald, several grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
