KANAWHA -Synneva Abbas, 89, passed away Saturday (June 2, 2001) at Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kanawha Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. William H. Breen, interim pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Kanawha. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, Kanawha, and one hour prior to the services at the church Wednesday.

Synneva, the daughter of Abel and Mary Fosen Omvig, was born Jan. 30, 1912, in Kanawha. Synneva was a lifelong resident of Kanawha. She was united in marriage with Bernard Abbas Sept. 4, 1933, at Kanawha Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born, Harvey, Marjorie, Ronald and Roger. Synneva was a member of Kanawha Lutheran Church where she was employed as a custodian for many years. Synneva enjoyed embroidering and cross-stitching.

Synneva is survived by two grandsons, Alan Abbas and his wife, Tammy, and their two sons, Aaron and Zachary, and Douglas Abbas and his wife, Misty, and their two sons, Adam and Trevor; three sisters, Ovedia Michelson and her husband, Ernest, Cecelia Roskamp and Mabel Peterson; two brothers, John Omvig and Arthur Omvig and his wife, Marjorie, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard in 1952; sons, Harvey in 1983, Ronald and Roger in 1949; a daughter, Marjorie in 1958; a sister, Alice Asche in 1985; and two brothers, Joseph in 1986 and Oren in 1973.
