Funeral services were held for Grace Abbas, 80, of the Kanawha Community Home will be held on Thursday, Jan. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church. Mrs. Abbas died on Sunday, Dec. 29, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital. Rev. Bert Den Herder will conduct the service with interment at the Amsterdam cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday at the Carter Ewing Funeral Chapel in Kanawha, starting at 3:00 p.m.

Mrs. Abbas, born September 27, 1905, was the daughter of Charley and Fannie (Eenhuis) Prull. A native of Kanawha, she attended country school and grew up here. On February 22, 1927, she married Chris Abbas in a ceremony at her parents' home. The couple farmed near Kanawha and later near Britt. In the 1940's they moved back to Kanawha, farming northeast of here. Grace took an active interest in the farm. They retired from the farm in 1976.

Chris Abbas died on May 22, 1978. Mrs. Abbas was a life long church member and a member of the Ladies Aid. She had been a resident of the Kanawha Community Home for the past two years. Survivors include her son, Leo, of Kanawha; five grandchildren - Pamela Helps of Clear Lake, Wayne of Kanawha, Lory Slater of Clear Lake, Debra Winterfield of Ireton, and Vicky Anderson of Kanawha. Other survivors include four great grandchildren and her two brothers, John and Gerhard Prull of Kanawha. Mrs. Abbas was pre-deceased by an infant daughter (Lois), her parents, a brother (Fritz) and her husband.
