Mason City Globe GazetteLeonard Marvin Anderson, 66, of Belmond, died Wednesday (Oct. 4, 1995) at University Hospitals, Iowa City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Father Tom Currier and Deacon Nick Schmit officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Cemetery, Goodell. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Tenold Funral Home, Belmond, with a rosary at 2:30 p.m. by the Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a 7 p.m. Scripture service.
Leonard Marvin Anderson, the son of Arthur V. Anderson and Mary Elizabeth Goodridge Anderson, was born Nov. 26, 1928 at Goodell, Iowa. He graduated from Klemme High School in 1946. He was united in marriage to Marlyn Dorr on April 29, 1950, at St. Francis Zavier Church, Belmond. They lived north of Goodell, where Leonard farmed and was a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, and spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Marlyn of Goodell; daughters, Mary Ellen Mason and her husband, Wayne, of Goodell, Evelyn Nolte of Goodell, Theresa Smith and her husband, Dan, of Minden, Neb., and Annette Schallert and her husband, Miles of Owatonna, Minn.; sons, Duane Anderson and his wife, Deb, of Iowa City, Michael Anderson and his wife, Kathy of New Hampton, Terry Anderson and his wife, Bonnie of Goodell, and Tony Anderson and his fiance, Randi Burt of Goodell; grandchildren, Walt Mason and his wife,
Christy and great-grandchild, Maicie Mason; Larinda and Timothy Mongan, Jennifer Mason and her fiance, Scot Peil, Jamie Mason, Mike Anderson, Tennille Anderson, Tiffany Anderson, Autumn Anderson, Helen Nolte, Travis Nolte, Christopher Nolte, Nicholas Smith, and Duane Anderson; sisters, Loretta Smith and her husband, Don of Belmond; Marian Kinseth and her husband, Roland of Belmond, Harriett Halfpop and her husband Bernard of Fairmont, Minn.; brothers, Clifford Anderson of Klemme; Harold Anderson and his wife, Bonnie of Goodell; and sister-in-law, Mildred Anderson of Clarion. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Harry, Andrew, and Harvey; sister, Mary; and a grandson, Joshua Anderson.
