Burial will be at Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services today at the church. William R. Siemens was born on Feb. 28, 1927, the second of six children, to Marinus and Jennie (Hanson) Siemens at Goldfield, in Wright County. Bill attended country school at Boone Township No.6. He began his high schools days at Renwick. When in his senior year, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and received his high school diploma. On April 12, 1947, he married Arlene Bakken at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Two daughters, Sandra and Susan, completed the family. They farmed in the Kanawha area for 10 years before moving to their farm near Crystal Lake. They then retired to their rural home near Forest City. Besides farming, Bill was actively involved in the machinery business where he enjoyed collecting antique machinery. He also enjoyed scouting the countryside for artifacts. Unable to get around in his later years, he treasured the many family gatherings at his home, where sports, skip-bo, cribbage and guitar music created good memories. Bill was a member of the American Legion and the Farm Bureau. He was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ.
Those left to continue on are his wife, Arlene; his daughter, Sandy, and her husband, Cecil Welhousen, of Titonka; five grandsons, of whom he was very proud and to whom much advice was given. They are Scott Welhousen, Daniel Welhousen and Ryan Welhousen and his wife, Renae, all of Titonka, Eric Tibesar and his fiancee, Amy Beachy, of Iowa City, and Damon Tibesar of Coralville, and his son, Clayton. Bill leaves two sisters, Betty Andersen of Nora Springs and Margrete and her husband, Wayne Douglas, of Park Rapids, Minn.; and three brothers and their spouses, Ken and Carol Siemens of Joplin, Mo., Don and Velma Siemens of Tulsa, Okla., and Bernie and Mary Siemens of Onamia, Minn. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sue; a sister-in-law; his parents; and grandparents. Petersen Lund Funeral Home.
