CORWITH — Gladys Idella Studer, 94, of Corwith died Thursday (Oct. 20, 2005) in Kanawha. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Renwick with the Rev. Jerry Newland officiating. Burial will be in the Corwith Cemetery in Corwith. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Corwith.

Gladys Idella Studer was born June 6, 1911, at Corwith, Iowa, to Frank and Edith (Oxley) Izzard. She received her education in the Corwith school system and graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1929. Following graduation, she helped on the family farm east of Corwith. Gladys was united in marriage to Wilbur (Scoop) Studer on Feb. 19, 1931, at Goldfield, Iowa. They farmed northwest of Corwith for 42 years, retiring in 1973. In 1975, the couple moved into Corwith. Gladys became a resident of the Kanawha Community Home in July 2002. Gladys was a member of the First Baptist Church in Corwith, where she held various offices and was a member of the Mission Circle of the church women. She was a former member of the Know Your Neighbor Club, Royal Neighbors of America Club and a charter member of the Iowane Club. Gladys was a historian, clipping articles from papers and magazines everyday and kept a daily diary.

Gladys is survived by her son, Gary, and wife, Dorothy, of Corwith; two grandchildren, Paul and Debra; seven great-grandchildren: Spencer, Stephanie, Shawna, Kristen, Jenny, Megen and Derek; two great-great grandchildren, Skylar and Caden, as well as one sister, Philred Jacobs of Garner; brother-in-law, Ray Frey; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Scoop, on July 12, 1992; and two sisters, Ivadelle Frey and Gloria Carr.
