Fann E. Katuin, 94, of Belmond, died on Friday, December 5, 2003, at the Belmond Health Care Center. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 8, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Belmond, with Pastor Lowell Halvorson officiating. Burial was in the Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Kanawha.

Fann, the daughter of John and Jennie Abbas Baker, was born on October 10, 1909, south of Kanawha in Wright County. She grew up in the Twin Lakes area where she attended country school. On February 15, 1928, Fann married Harm Katuin. The couple farmed in various locations in north central Iowa. In 1955 the family moved to the farm near Goodell, where they farmed until Harm's death in 1973. Fann continued to live on the farm until she became a resident of the Belmond Health Care Center in 1997. Fann was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed caring for her flower garden and took great pride in her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters; and four brothers. Fann is survived by her sons, Ben (Sherley) Katuin of Goodell and Marvin (Maryls) Katuin of Mason City; grandchildren, Mark (Sharon) Katuin of Garner, Susan (David) Swaroff of Dayton and Margaret (Curt) Klaahsen of Cherokee; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Megan and Alexander; sisters, Helen Smidt of Britt and Emma (John) Appelhons of Thompson; and brother, Albert (Jeanette) Baker of Forest City.
