Macy R. Gatton, 8, of Belmond, passed away on Saturday (Sept. 21, 2002) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City, from injuries suffered in an auto accident. Funeral services for Macy R. Gatton will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Belmond with Pastor Marc Pluff officiating. Burial will take place in the Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha. Visitation for Macy R. Gatton will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane S. in Belmond and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Macy Rene Gatton, the daughter of Anthony and Denise Weide Gatton was born June 7, 1994 in Mason City. She attended school in Thornton and Garner. Macy was in the third grade at Belmond-Klemme schools in Belmond. Macy enjoyed swimming and singing. She enjoyed playing with her Barbie dolls and loved her cats. Macy belonged to Girl Scouts and Brownies. She faithfully attended the Dayspring Assembly of God Church in Belmond with her parents.

Macy is survived by her parents, Anthony and Denise Gatton; maternal grandparents, Sue Weide and Jeff Erickson of Belmond and Dennis Weide and Shelley Nelson of Faribault, Minn.; paternal grandparents, Walter and Dorothy Gatton of Belmond; maternal great-grandmother, Liz Allen, of Glendale, Calif.; maternal great-grandfather, Fred Weide, of Meservey; paternal great-grandparents, Kenneth and Mary Joyce Haverly, of Wesley and Kenneth and Lavon Gatton, of Algona; aunts and uncles, Christopher and Jackie Gatton, of Garner, Andrew Gatton and Sarah, of Klemme, Brenda Gatton, of Belmond, David Weide, of Meservey, David Isaacson of Belmond; two cousins, Alysha and Aliena; and numerous other relatives and friends.
