Marjorie J. (Riekens) Steenhard
March 2, 1930 ----- January 22, 2023

Marjorie J. (Riekens) Steenhard, 92, of Belmond, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond with Pastor Jim Gochenouer officiating. Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.

Marjorie J. Steenhard was born March 2, 1930 near Belmond to Henry A. and Esther Mae (Van Osten) Riekens. She was raised in the Belmond and Goodell area. She met Klaas J. Steenhard after he returned from service in World War II. They united in marriage on May 9, 1949 in rural Sheffield. The couple farmed near Dougherty and Meservey. Marjorie worked at Chapman’s Café, Mello Maid, and Shirley’s Café.

She was a member of the Bethany Reformed Church in Belmond. She was a member of the VFW and volunteered at the Belmond Care Center. She enjoyed Birthday Club, Coffee Club, bus trips and talking with friends.

Marjorie is survived by her son Delmar (Kathy) Steenhard of Manchester; two grandsons Brian (Allison) Steenhard of Gilbert, Arizona and Adam Steenhard of Waukee; six great-grandchildren Lily, Leyton, Landri, Braden, Abigail, and Lincoln; two sisters Eleanor Robertson of Mason City and Beverly Mosher of Belmond. She is preceded in death by her husband Klaas in 2000; and parents Henry and Esther Riekens.
