SCARLET FEVER PROVES FATAL

Funeral Services for William Cecil Bernard, 29, Tomorrow at M.E. Church

William Cecil Bernard, 29, died last evening at 6:30 o'clock at the D.E. Drackley home, death being caused by scarlet fever which developed shortly after an appendicitis operation.

Mr. Bernard underwent an operation Saturday morning at the hospital here. Later scarlet fever developed and it was necessary to remove him from the hospital to the Drackley home Monday evening. He had been seriously ill since Wednesday evening.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church. The body will be placed in a hermetically sealed casket, making it possible to hold public services. The Rev. J.J. Share will officiate and burial will be made in Graceland cemetery.

William Cecil Bernard was born Nov. 24, 1908 on a farm four and a quarter miles north of Woolstock, just across the road from where he had been living the past five years. He had spent his life near Woolstock.

He attended the high school at Eagle Grove where he graduated in 1926. He was married Nov. 9, 1928 to Miss Merle Crosby, at Webster City. He leaves his wife and two little daughters, Marilyn Ruth and Diane Nadene. One baby girl, Darlene Mae, preceded him in death.

He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George [Sarah Jane 'Sadie' Claude] Bernard, and one brother, George Marlin, besides many relatives and friends. He was a member of the Methodist church.
