Nadean Mesecher Griffen, 89, of Webster City, died Thursday, March 31, 2005 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center at Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Fosters Chapel with Rev. Scott Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and prior to the service on Monday.

Nadean Eileen Madson, daughter of Hans and Nellie Wambsal Madson, was born November 4, 1915 at Goldfield. She received her education at Corwith, graduating in 1933. She attended Moody Bible College at Minneapolis. She worked as a waitress and house cleaning. On September 1, 1937 she married Arthur James Mesecher at Eagle Grove. The couple resided at Webster City, then moved to Colo, Iowa, where they owned and operated a grocery store. Upon their return to Webster City, she worked at Woolworth's, then at Spurgeon's for 25 years. She retired in the early 1980's. Mr. Mesecher died October 8, 1980. On March 6, 1983 she married Fred Griffen at Webster City. The couple resided at Des Moines. Mr. Griffen died in August of 1983. She returned to Webster City in 1986.

Mrs. Griffen is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Linda Mesecher of Jewell; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Marvin Carpenter, Linda and Larry Lundy, all of Webster City; daughters-in-law, Rose Corvaglia of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Darlene Mesecher of Fort Dodge; step-sons, Warren Griffen of St. Paul, MN; Faye Griffen of Albuquerque, NM; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Madson of Des Moines; sisters, Nel Stafford of Spokane, WA; Freda Hudson of Denver, CO; Phyllis Hill of Fort Dodge; sister-in-law Margaret Madson of Eagle Grove; brother-in-law, Merle Glemmestad of Spokane WA; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Larry Dean Mesecher in 1993 and Roger F. Mesecher in 2000; grandsons, Larry Dean Mesecher, Jr. in 1991 and Ricky Carpenter; two great-grandsons; sisters, Hazel Glemmestad and Ruth Stafford; brother Harold Madson.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Purity Rebekah Lodge #72. She taught Sunday School many years and was active in Ladies Circle.
