November 3, 1933 --- April 14, 2022

Des Moines - On April 14, 2022, Barb Amend passed away peacefully of natural causes at age 88. On this day, the world lost a beloved mother, mother-in law, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, neighbor, and child of God.

Barb was born on November 3, 1933, in Dows, Iowa. She and her brother Rich were children of Barney and Josephine (Foster) Meyer.

Barb's life is highlighted by her love of Jesus and a family that she brought great joy to. She is survived by her 4 sons Steve, Dave (Mary Ann), Mike (Julie) and Matt (Renee), 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a list of dear friends longer than one could ever count. She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Ralph and her brother Rich.

Barb had a passion for; weekends at the lake, entertaining at her home, family time, gardening, antiques, trips with her LAMLaB friends, trips to Estes Park and her time with organizations such as; Junior League, Des Moines Founders Garden Club, PEO, Questers, the Bargain Basket, and the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at the University of Iowa.

Family, friends, neighbors experienced a kind, generous, unselfish person. Our hearts are heavy, but her faith was strong, and we know she is in heaven… likely serving her famous mix, rolls and meals with the same love, generosity, and kindness as she did for us.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022, at Central Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Dunn's Funeral Home 2121 Grand Ave in Des Moines. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Memorial may be directed to the Central Presbyterian Church.
