Acker MacEachron
November 15, 1856 --- October 22, 1946

Acker MacEachron, son of John Andrew and Jeanette Landrum MacEachron, was born November 15, 1856, at Argyle, N. Y., and died October 22, 1946, lacking only three weeks of reaching his 90th birthday. When a small child the family moved to a farm near Waterman, Illinois, where he lived until he was grown.

On March 12, 1885, he was married to Finnette Norton and to this union were born four children, Ruth, now Mrs. John Whyte, Scott Acker of Portland, Oregon, Paul Norton and Harriett, both of whom preceded their parents in death. Mrs. MacEachron died on May 31, 1935. Since that time, he has made his home with his daughter.

In 1883 he went to Franklin, Neb., to manage a lumberyard for the White Lake Lumber Co. In 1891 he was transferred to Oak Park, Illinois, where the family lived until 1900 when he came to Goldfield. In 1905 he moved to Waterloo, Iowa and in 1921 returned to Goldfield to make his home.

Mr. MacEachron united with the United Presbyterian church in Somonauk, Illinois, when a young man, and at the time of his death was a member of the Goldfield United Presbyterian church. He was always a faithful member of the church in which he held his membership and maintained his intense interest in his church even to the day of his death.

He is survived by his son and daughter, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Helen MacEachron of Des Moines, a son-in-law, Wm. D. Thompson of Port Huron, Mich., ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Relatives attending services were Scott A. MacEachron, Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Helen MacEachron, Des Moines; Scott A. MacEachron, Jr., Grinnell; Mr. and Mrs. Pojman and family, Rockford, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Bennett and family, Corwith; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Henry, Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Henry, Clarion; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Felton, Le Suer, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Birkland, Somers; Mrs. Peter Glidden, Newton. –Goldfield.

Funeral services for Acker MacEachron, 89, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. S. Whyte after a lingering illness, were held at the J. S. Whyte home Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. Ralph Edie officiating. Special music was furnished by Mrs. Craig Nelson. Pall bearers were Hans A. Hanson, Tom Lister, W. E. McGowan, Howard Stevenson, George McCutcheon, Craig Nelson. Burial was in Goldfield cemetery. –Goldfield.
