Hazel Gertrude Smith Ferguson
1 March 1896 ---- 19 November 1944

Mrs. A. W. Ferguson, formerly of Goldfield, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 19, at the age of 48 in Webster City. She had been confined to the hospital for the past four months and in poor health for about two years.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Foster Funeral home in Webster City. Rev. Harold Putney officiated. Burial was in Goldfield.

The daughter of James and Jennie Smith, Hazel Smith was born March 1, 1896 here in Goldfield and received her education here. She was married in November, 1914 to Arthur Ferguson at Clarion. They made their home at Goldfield where Mr. Ferguson was in the drayage business until 1923 when they moved to Eagle Grove.

Fifteen years ago, they moved to Webster City and had since resided there.

Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her father, who died in 1934, one daughter, who died in infancy, two sisters and two brothers. Surviving are her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Ward Sheriff of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Raymond Seward of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Betty and Lois, at home, one son, Bobby, at home, also four grandchildren. Her mother, Mrs. Jennie B. Smith, lives at Ocheydan, Iowa, a sister, Mrs. Mamby, also at Ocheydan, and one brother, Leonard, in Goldfield.

Baptized in the Baptist faith, Mrs. Ferguson was a member of the Baptist church here.

Mrs. Arthur Ferguson of Webster City was buried here on Friday morning. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James. S. Smith and she and her husband lived here for a number of years. –Goldfield Section.
