Kent A. Peters, 54, of Keokuk, Iowa died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Mr. Peters was born October 2, 1952, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Allan and Norma Ellis Peters. He married Jane Kutcher on February 27, 1971 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives. He served in the United States Navy and aboard the USS Jason. He was employed by the city of Keokuk as a disposal plant operator until 1978 when an accident caused his disability.

He was a member of American Legion Post #41 and the Disabled Veterans of Iowa. He served as President of the Keokuk Veterans' Memorial Committee and managed the website for the Keokuk Veterans' Memorial. He was Board Member of the Free Geek Squad. He researched and wrote articles for the Keokuk Website. He spend a lot of time on the computer and it was his "window to the world". He loved animals and the water. He loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren and their activities.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Peters of Keokuk; his parents, Allan and Norma Peters of Jefferson, Wisconsin; two children, Shelly Rose and her husband, Tom, of Keokuk and Gabe Peters and his wife, Rhonda, of Keokuk; three grandchildren, Derek and Kelsey Rose and Jade Peters; two brothers, Kim Peters and his wife, Cindy, of Fertile, Iowa and Kelly Peters and his friend, Debbie Jones, of Cambridge, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Roger Kutcher of Keokuk; sister-in-law, Becky Figge of Keokuk; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, great aunts and great uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at 10:00 AM, at DeJong's Funeral Home with Rev. William Olmsted officiating. Burial followed at Keokuk National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
