Tolford G. Thompson, 75, died April 9 at Trinity Hospital, Fort Dodge, where he had been a patient for several days.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church in charge of the pastor, Rev. H. W. Schiller. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Thompson was employed at the Security Savings Bank for 45 years in various departments of the bank and retired in 1961 as one of the officers.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Phillip of St. Paul, Minn.; two daughters: Mrs. Vernon Hanson, St. Peter, Minn.; and Mrs. R. Scott Haasarud of Altadena, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

He was an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving in many of the official capacities and also as a Sunday School teacher. He was a former Boy Scoutmaster.

OBITUARY

Tolford Gerhard Thompson was born January 30, 1901 in Norway Township, Wright County, Iowa to Ceivert and Ella Wicks Thompson. He was baptized into the triune faith February 1901 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Norway Township. He renewed his baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation on December 5, 1915 at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. H. A. Okdale officiating. He passed away at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge after reaching the age of 75 years, 2 months, and 10 days on April 9.

Tolford attended schools in Eagle Grove, graduating from high school in 1919. He graduated from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn. in 1925. On Sept. 1, 1926 he was united in marriage to Vesta Christiansen of Boomer Township, Pottawattamie County, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Neola. The couple came to Eagle Grove after their marriage and Mr. Thompson worked for the Security Savings Bank until retirement in July 1971. Tolford became a member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1912 and served the church in many different capacities. He was a member of the church council, Sunday School superintendent, and teacher (just 4 weeks ago he was teaching the adult Bible school class). He also had been a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Tilda, in 1910. He leaves to mourn his wife, Vesta; one son, Phillip, St Paul, Minn.; two daughters: Kathryn (Mrs. Vernon Hanson) St. Peter, Minn.; and Jeannette (Mrs. R. Scott Haasarud) Altadena, Calif.; seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 12 at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. H. W. Schiller officiating. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
