Virgil Lee Rasmussen
23 September 1940 --- 8 February 1992

Virgil Lee Rasmussen was born September 23, 1940, the son of Alfred and Alma Jacobsen Rasmussen, at Goldfield. He received his education in the Renwick school system, and graduated from Boone Valley High School in 1958. He served in the United States Army, and received his honorable discharge in 1962.

Upon returning home, he was united in marriage to Joan Johnson of Eagle Grove, February 25, 1961, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home and farmed northwest of Goldfield. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Livermore American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, El Kahir Shrine, and the Renwick Izaak Walton League.

Virgil Rasmussen died at his home February 8, 1992, at the age of 51 years, four months, and 15 days. He was preceded in death by his father, and a niece, Kimberly Rasmussen. He is survived by his mother, Alma; his wife, Joan; and one son, Richard, all of Goldfield; two daughters, Mrs Terry (Beverly) McPeak of Renwick; and Mrs. Tim (Barbara) Brooks of Goldfield; two brothers, Larry, Goldfield; and Dean of Eagle Grove; three sisters, Doris Hanson of Algona; Mrs. Robert (Bernita) Westling of Kensington, Minn.; and Mrs. Don (Ethel) Campbell of Shannon City, Iowa; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 11, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, with the Rev. Lyle Peters officiating at the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
