Margaret Mary Fogarty Thorn
May 25, 1887 — June 3, 1981

Mrs. Margaret Mary Thorn, the daughter of John and Mary Fogarty, was born on May 25, 1887 at Clare, Iowa. She grew up and attended school in the Clare area. On November 15, 1915, she was united in marriage with Otis U. Thorn of Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Mrs. Thorn died at the home of her daughter in Eagle Grove on Wednesday/ afternoon, June 3, 1981 at the age of 94 years and 8 days. She had lived with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peterson for the past three and a half years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, the Sacred Heart Guild and the Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary and her husband, Chas (Chick) Peterson of Eagle Grove; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, who died in 1975; two sons, Donald and Robert; four sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret M. Thorn, were held on Friday morning, June 5, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Fr. John Hemann was the officiant and burial was in the family lot at Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Rosary services were held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home on Thursday evening.
