June 26, 1927 ---- April 30, 2021

Anna E. Kane, 93, of rural Westgate, Iowa, died on Friday evening, April 30, 2021 at her home with her family by her side.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 7, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sumner, Iowa with Rev. Paul C. McManus officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein and for one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Scripture Service: 7 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Interment: Greenwood Cemetery, rural Westgate, Iowa.

A Memorial Fund has been established.

Condolences may by directed to Ritchie Kane, 23351 90th Street, Westgate, Iowa 50681.

Anna Elaine Janson was born June 26, 1927 in Holmes, Iowa, the daughter of Hjalmar & Anna (Enge) Janson. Anna graduated from Clarion High School in the class of 1945. She taught country school and then continued her education at the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls receiving a teaching certificate. She then taught at Ft. Dodge. Anna was united in marriage to Ritchie Louis Kane on April 2, 1956 at Clarion, Iowa. They made their home at rural Westgate where they farmed, Anna taught school at Sumner and also substitute taught. Anna was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner, the Westgate Women’s Club, Westgate Library Board and as secretary/treasurer of the Greenwood Cemetery Association for many years.

Anna is survived by her Husband of 65 years: Ritchie Kane of Westgate; 3 Sons: Michael (Judy) Kane of Westgate, Patrick Kane of Westgate & Robert (Martha) Kane of Decorah; Grandchildren: Lucas Kane of Minneapolis, Kyle Kane of Minneapolis, Anna Kane of Iowa City, Shelby (David) Clark of Seattle, Washington, Travis Kane of Cedar Falls, Alicyn Kane (Brady Woodward) of Oelwein, Aaron (Alesha) Faddis of Ankeny & Adam (Amanda) Faddis of Lawrenceville, Georgia; 1 Great Grandson: Bentley Kane; 2 Brothers-In-Law: Larry Stohr (Mary Taylor) of Oelwein & Dennis (Diane) Kane of American Fork, Utah and many Nieces & Nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-laws: Louis & Doris Kane; 6 brothers: Tolford Janson, Kenneth (June) Janson; Eldon (Helen) Janson; Harley (Helen) Janson; Edgar (Grace) Janson & Joel (Berniece) Janson; 2 sisters: Marjorie (John) Holtzbaurer & Evelyn (Bill) Leffingwell; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Roberta (Clare) Mahoney, Larry (Barbara) Kane, Patricia Stohr & Bettina Kane.
