Lorell L. Toomsen, 73, of Waterloo, died Sunday, October 31, 2021, at his home.

He was born May 14, 1948, in Hampton the son of John and Leona Schultz Toomsen. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School and attended Hawkeye Tech for Auto Mechanics. He married Sandra Foster on June 15, 1968, in Dows, Iowa. They were later divorced but remained friends. He worked as a mechanic for Peterson Contractors Inc, retiring in 2006. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, stationed in Korea. Lorell was a member of Black Hawk County Street Machines and Hawkeye Street Rods.

Survived by: Sandra Toomsen of Waterloo; two daughters, Sheri (Travis) Jelinek of North Liberty, Teresa Toomsen of La Porte City; seven grandchildren, Hayleigh Jelinek of Marion, Nathanial Jelinek of Milwaukee, WI, Jordan Toomsen of La Porte City, Jadelyn Elliott of La Porte City, Jayce Elliott of La Porte City, Sadie and Kinsley Crisman of La Porte City; two great- grandchildren, Dalus and Gracee Jelinek; a brother, Gary (Linda) Toomsen of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Janis Rea of Alvin, TX, Arlene (Barry) Barkley of Knoxville; many nieces and nephews; and his Parrot companion, Tootie. Preceded in death by: his parents; a brother in infancy; and brother-in-law, Joe Rea.
