Funeral services for Georgia M. Oppedahl, 74, mayor of Renwick were held at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove on Friday at 2 p.m. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Mrs. Oppedahl died of cancer Tuesday at the Clarion hospital. Garry-Roberts-Schaaf-Blake Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn (Mrs. Melvin) Joenks of Greenville; two step-daughters, Ellen Elkin of Eagle Grove and Mrs. Carroll (Ruth) Jones of Des Moines; five stepsons, Lynn Paine of Temple City, Calif.; Paul Oppedahl of La Crescenta, Calif.; Sherrill Oppedahl of Goldfield; Robert Oppedahl of Renwick, and Phillip Oppedahl of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Nerem of Renwick; Mrs. Gemima Nelson of Britt and Mrs. Harriett Johnson of Otho; three brothers, Clifford Hill, Eagle Grove; Gaylord Hill of Brownsburg, Ind.; and Melbourne Hill of Eagle Grove; two grandsons, and 23 step-grandchildren.

Mrs. Oppedahl was serving her second term as mayor of Renwick. She was elected for her first term as a write-in and ran on the ticket for her second term which has a year and a half to go. The Renwick City Council met Wednesday night and voted to have mayor pro-tem Robert Oppedahl, her stepson, complete her term of office. The council will appoint a new councilman to replace him on the council.

Mrs. Oppedahl was born March 4, 1908, to Erling and Karen Johnson Hill at Eagle Grove. She attended Eagle Grove schools and graduated from Normal School in 1925. She taught school for four years in the Eagle Grove area. She married Raymond Paine Nov. 25, 1930, at Nashua at the Little Brown Church. He died April 19, 1961. She married Edward Oppedahl on May 26, 1966, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Renwick. He died Nov. 22, 1967. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Renwick, was currently mayor of Renwick and past president of the ALCW Fort Dodge conference and spent years working in 4-H and Republican Women organizations. She belonged to the Senior Citizens of Renwick, BTW Women's Club in Renwick, and was a former member of the Sons of Norway.
