Nicholas Wambsal, son of Ole and Roynor Wambsal was born in Kongsberg, Norway, January 24, 1852, and died at his home in Goldfield, July 7, 1924, aged 72 years, 5 months and 13 days.
In the year 1873 he was united in marriage to Myea Shol. To this union was born nine children, Oscar of Madison, Wis.; Carl who died, at the age of six; Mrs. Rea Sunde of Morris, Minn.; Marie Gee of Pewona, Mich., Arthur C. of San Francisco, Cal., Mrs. Jennie Helgesen of Goldfield; Ia; Mrs. Nellie Madson of LuVerne; lowa; Mrs. Amanda Nelson of Renwick, Ia: and Frederick W. who gave his life for his country during the world war.
In the year 1881, he, with his wife and four children left Norway, settling in Muskegon, Michigan.
Later they moved to Rugby, N. D. where Mrs. Wambsal died in the year later 1899. Three years later he was united in marriage to Sena [Sine] Peterson.
In 1908 Mr. and Mrs. Wambsal returned to Norway for a visit with old friends and relatives. After staying there for eight years they returned to America, settling on a farm near Goldfield and later moved to Goldfield.
For the last three years he has been an invalid confined to his chair.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his faithful wife, seven children, twenty nine grandchildren, two brothers and a host of friends.
Mr. Wambsal was one of those gold star fathers who left the real cost of the war, having given his son Fred for his country's cause. Like all the parents who were called to lay their sons on the altar of their country, Mr. Wambsal's hope was that the world might some day learn a better settling its disputes.
Mr. Wambsal was a quiet law abiding citizen, a kind and loving husband and father and will be sadly missed by all.
