Jose was born to Enrique Rodriguez and Juana (Martinez) on Sept. 21, 1992, in Reynosa Tamaulipas, Mexico. He moved to Iowa with his family in his early childhood where he attended Belmond-Klemme Schools and was active in the theatre programs at the school running sound and lights and helping with other tasks. Being ever the free spirit and and always restless and looking for that next life adventure, Alex graduated from Belmond-Klemme. Though school wasn't necessarily his favorite, A-Rod" was always inquisitive and curious and wanting to make things better. His creative spirit led him to want to "Live off the Grid" so to speak. Alex wanted to invent a better solar panel and develop a system in his own way to capture energy from running bodies of water. He was always fixing stuff. Alex was a young man with an old soul loving classic rock music and mixing in some modern tunes as well. He loved to attend concerts and had seen bands such as .38 Special, Cheap Trick, Megadeath and Slipknot, recently attending Knot Fest with his companion Hannah.
He loved to sing at Karoake, in the shower and just about anywhere and had a wonderful voice that would bring the world around him to life. He was famous for his lively renditions of Piano Man, Bohemian Rhapsody, and American Pie. Alex also had pursued a bit of a music career after high school spending sometime as the lead singer of a local rock band.
Alex loved to read and was especially fond of The Lord of the Reigns, Harry Potter, Aragon, and others. He loved New Technologies and also the wonders of nature and the world around him. A-Rod was very much a young man of deep thoughts whose energy and zest for life brought countless friends into his life. He was a simple man who didn't need to have the latest and greatest of everything, but was just as satisfied in one of his favorite brand of well worn canvas Converse tennis shoes.
He had been employed in various jobs over the years from working at the local Casey's Store to more recent times in construction. He always said that his character and ambitions were more built around travel and exploring than wanting to be tied to a career. His past times and hobbies were as diverse as his friends. Many knew Alex as the young guy who whizzed about town and at the skateboard parks on his skateboard, or peddling the country side and all over north Iowa on his bicycle. Ho looked forward to tent camping, traveling, skating, kayaking, hiking. He loved to play disc golf and had won an award to two for his proficient skills.
Alex left his trail everywhere he went in life and lived it full throttle and left his human life like a comet blasting it's way across a star filled sky. His loving spirit, upbeat personality and beautiful smile left an impression that his family and friends will cherish forever.
He is survived by his parents, Enrique and Juana Rodriguez, Belmond, IA, sister Bernice Rodriguez and her children Mackenzie and Andric Rodriguez, Belmond, IA, brother Hugo (Lucy) Rodriguez, and their children Jacueline and Chloe Rodriguez, all of Alden, IA; his three year old daughter Alessia Rodriguez; Alex's companion Hannah Faith Sorenson, Belmond, IA,; his 100 yr. old grandfather Feliciano Rodriguez, Raynos, Mexico and grandmother Celia Martinez, Rio Bravo, Mexico; his aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Jose Salud Martinez Perez, grandmother Juanita Alcala, and uncles Alfonzo Martinez and Ernesto Rodriguez.
