Carroll Augusta Wilhelm Helmke was born on June 25, 1911 at Renwick, Iowa to August and Ida
Christensen Helmke. As a small boy, he moved with his family to Swea City, Iowa. He graduated from the Swea City High School in 1930. After his schooling, he moved to Renwick and started farming. On January 30, 1939, he was married to Olga Andersen at Sioux City. The couple farmed southeast of Renwick until 1980 when they retired and moved into Renwick.

He was an active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Renwick. He was a former usher, secretary of the Church Council and a member of the Men's Bible Study Group. He was a longtime member of the Boone Valley REC Board and was a Charter Member of the Izaak Walton League near Renwick. He became a resident of the North Care Center in Humboldt in 1987, and in 1989 became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Algona.

Carroll Augusta Wilhelm Helmke died at the Good Samaritan Center in Algona on Monday, December 18, 1995, at the age of 84.

Survivors include his wife, Olga, Renwick; 3 daughters, Carolyn Kraft and husband Donald, Renwick, Kathleen Grosvenor and husband Dwight, Kent, Washington, and Vicky Marty and husband Norman, Ames; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Junior Helmke and wife Dorothy, Swea City; and 1 sister, Marjorie Baima, San Diego, Calif. He was preceded in death by his
parents and one brother, Lawrence.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 1995, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Renwick, Iowa, with Reverend John Massey and Reverend Herbert Schiller officiating the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 1995, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Renwick, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.

Carroll A.W. Helmke, 84, of Renwick, died Monday (Dec. 18, 1995) at the Good Samaritan Center, Algona. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Renwick, with the Rev. John Massey and the Rev. Herbert Schiller officiating. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Renwick.

Carroll A.W. Helmke was born June 25, 1911, in Renwick. Survivors include his wife, Olga, of Renwick; three daughters, Carolyn Kraft of Renwick; Kathleen Grosvenor of Kent, Wash., and Vicky Marty of Ames; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Baima of San Diego, Calif.; and one brother, Junior Helmke of Swea City. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
