Marian (Clappison) Meier Leach
June 12, 1923 ---- August 20, 2021Marian Meier Leach, age 98, passed away August 20, 2021 at St Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born June 12, 1923 in Onawa, Iowa.
She grew up in various towns in Iowa, graduated from Eagle Grove High School at the age of 17. She attended college at Iowa University and graduated in 1944 with a degree in Journalism. She married E. Bruce Meier in 1943. They made their home in Lincoln Nebraska and in 1957, moved to Omaha. She taught for the Westside Community Schools and obtained a Masters degree in Teaching the Gifted from UNL. Upon Bruce’s death she worked at UNO editing PHD dissertations. She also worked at Mutual of Omaha. She married Arthur Leach in 1986. She love to go birding, was a voracious reader, loved painting and photography. She was a worldwide traveler, scuba diver and had quite a green thumb. She was a member of PEO and a charter member of the Presbyterian Church of the Cross.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Gordon Clappison, a sister, Bonnie Kincaid, and both of her husbands. She is survived by her children, Richard (Rose) Meier, Kenneth Meier and Kathryn (James) Morris, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at Presbyterian Church of the Cross on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 am.
