George Taylor
August 2, 1942 ---- August 9, 2021

George Taylor of Ypsilanti, Michigan, passed away suddenly at home on August 9, 2021. He grew up in Goldfield, Iowa with parents George Sr. and Viola Neuhalfen Taylor and his sister Sherry. After attending Morningside College and Payne Theological Seminary at Wilberforce University, he briefly served at Brown Chapel AME Church in Ypsilanti. He married Karen Ferenczi on June 25, 1976. Survivors include Karen, daughters Michelle Bryant and Elizabeth (Jonathan) Knight, and sons Steven (Kristell), Jason, and Michael. He is also survived by grandchildren Cassandra, Jennifer, Lisa, Dustin, Chase, Makayla, and Annalise, sister Sherry Held and brother-in-law Ronald Ferenczi. George was among the founders of the Yankee Air Force Museum. For the past few decades, he served as President of the Cobblestone Farm Association. He retired as a firefighter at Willow Run Airport, but his passion was history and Cobblestone Farm. He was always an active parent who was always at his children's school functions. He built wooden benches, chests and birdhouses and loved camping throughout Michigan (I'll bet you didn't know the way to visit Iowa family was to cross the Mackinaw Bridge). He loved to sing and drive his ride-on lawn mower. He had a kindness in his soul that blessed everyone around him. A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at Cobblestone Farm, 2781 Packard Rd., Ann Arbor, Michigan 48108, on August 21, 2021, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation to the Cobblestone Farm Association or a charity of your choice.
