Max Aubrey Fletcher was born on December 24, 1921 the son of Harold "Pat" and Agnes Johnson Fletcher at Dows, Iowa. At an early age he moved with his aunts to Fort Collins, Colo, where he received his education.

He enlisted in the United States Navy April 20, 1942 at the Naval Reserve Station in Los Angeles, Calif. Upon completion of his duty, he received his honorable discharge on July 6, 1945 at Corvallis, Ore.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Graves of Goldfield, Iowa on June 21, 1947 at Goldfield. The couple made Goldfield their home all of their married life. Mrs. Fletcher died on September 10, 1991.

He was employed as a parts dealer for Ford Motor garage in Eagle Grove and later for Hagie's Manufacturing in Clarion, Iowa. He retired due to ill health in 1982. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Goldfield and the Disabled American Veterans.

Max Aubrey Fletcher died Wednesday, January 26, 1994 at the Clarion Care Center in Clarion, Iowa. He had attained the age of 72 years, one month, and two days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, two brothers, Daryl and Gene, and his sister Kathlene. He is survived by his two sons James Fletcher of Algona, and Roger Fletcher of Clarion; four grandchildren and a sister, Marilyn Gilbert of Noel, Mo.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 29, at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. The Rev. Nadim Saikaly officiated at the 10:30 am. services. Burial was held in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Kastler-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
