Gladys A. Rasmussen was born July 3, 1911 in South Dakota, the daughter of Luke (Lute) and Emma Gerdes Penfield and came to Clarion with her family as a child. She graduated from Clarion High School.

Oh August 23, 1930, she and Ivan Rasmussen were married in Clarion. They farmed west of. Goldfield for 23 years and then moved to Swea City. In 1959 they moved to Marshfield, Wis. Mr. Rasmussen died in 1977. Gladys had worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Wis., as a nurses aid.

Mrs. Rasmussen was a member of the Marshfield Church of Christ and was a former president of the Upham Village Apartments.

Gladys A. Rasmussen, died Tuesday, March 7, 1989 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Wis., at the age of 77 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother and two sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Daniel, Des Moines; and Jerry, Mason City; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Bohy, Marshfield, Wis.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, John Penfield, Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Ruth Ely, Fort Dodge.

Graveside services were conducted at Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield, Friday afternoon, March 10, with Mark Young of the Clarion Church of Christ officiating. The Eyler-Willim Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Alvin and Ruth Hansen attended visitation and burial services Friday for Gladys A. Rasmussen. The visitation was in Clarion and burial in Goldfield. –Goldfield Chronicle
