John Humphrey, who lived some 3 miles east of Clarion, died Friday of typhoid fever, and was buried at the Clarion cemetery, Saturday. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Denton of the Christian church. Mr. Humphrey was an honest, hard working man and leaves a wife and four small children, who while not in destitute circumstances, will yet sadly miss the strong arm and loving care of the husband and father.

After an illness lasting ten days John Humphrey died of typhoid fever at his home in Lincoln township, on last Thursday afternoon, and was buried from his late home on Saturday, Rev. J. E. Denton conducting the services. The interment took place in the Clarion cemetery.

Mr. Humphrey was born in Wales, January 25, 1854, and soon after attaining his majority came to America, locating in this county some fifteen years ago and since then has been engaged in farming. So far as our acquaintance with him went he was "poor but honest," an honorable, hard-working man and good citizen. A wife and four small children are left to mourn the death of a kind husband and loving father, and in their sore affliction have the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends.
