Funeral services for Dr. Loren T. Jones, of Indianapolis, Indiana were held here Tuesday afternoon at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral home in charge of Rev. Emmet Braselton. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was the husband of the former Marian Frey, daughter of M. K. Frey of this city.

Obituary

Dr. Loren T. Jones, 62 years old, head of the chemistry department of the Purdue University Indianapolis Regional Campus, died Dec. 9 at Methodist hospital, Indianapolis. Born in Carroll, Ia., he had lived in Indianapolis 21 years.

Dr. Jones first was in the Pharmacy College at Butler until 1947, when he became assistant professor of chemistry at the Purdue regional campus. He was named associate professor in 1949, and professor in 1958. Dr. Jones was the first professor voted to receive an award for distinguished work in scholarship and student-teacher relations by the Purdue student body.

He was professor of chemistry at Ferris Institute in Michigan from 1934 to 1936 and was a researcher in analytical chemistry for Solvay Process Co. from 1936 to 1945. He took post graduate work in Syracuse University, at Purdue University in Lafayette, and taught organic chemistry there. He held degrees from the University of Michigan and Iowa State University and had been professor of chemistry at Morningside College from 1945 to 1946.

Dr. Jones was a member of Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge, American Chemical Society, Phi Beta Kappa. Kappa Alpha Phi, Sigma Xi, and Phi Lambda Upsilon fraternities.

For 21 years, he had been a member of First Congregational Church, where he was on the board of deacons, and was serving his third term on the board of trustees. He was chairman of the church board from 1948 to 1951, and from 1953 to 1955 was clerk of the church.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Flanner and Buchanan Broad Ripple Mortuary.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Marian F. Jones; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Beedle and Mrs. Darlaine Jensen, both of Onawa, Ia., and Mrs. Leila Arndt of Blencoe, Ia.; three brothers, Edward Jones of Onawa, Ardon Jones of Sioux City, Ia., and Vernon Jones of Phoenix, Ariz.
