Erick Stueland
19 July 1880 --- 11 April 1965

Erick Stueland was born July 19, 1880 to Jens and Anna Lande Stueland in Kvinnherad, Hardanger, Norway. He was baptized shortly after birth in Norway. He died at his home in Eagle Grove on April 11, 1965 after reaching the age of 84 years, 8 months, and 22 days.

He came with parents to America in 1892 living first at Elliott, Ill. In 1895 they came to Badger, Iowa, then to west of Eagle Grove. On April 12, 1911 he was married to Mamie Stueland of Kanawha by Pastor H. C. Holm. In 1913 they moved to Minnesota and in 1920 they moved back to the Eagle Grove vicinity, where they have lived since. On January 1, 1921 they joined the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jens Stueland and Anna Lande Stueland and by his brothers and sisters, Sam, Lars, Johan, Anna, Jens, Andrew, Hans, Christ, Carl, Lars B, Thora (Mrs. Geo. Leekington), Sara, Johanna (Mrs. John Graves), Marie, and by one grandson, Eugene Stueland.

Those who mourn his departure are his wife, Mamie, a daughter, Esther, Mrs. Harley Holck of Eagle Grove, two sons, Leonard of Thor, and Alvin of Goldfield, 10 grandchildren, 2 sisters, Mrs. Anna McCabe, and Mrs. Jane Ostergard, both of Omaha, Neb., many relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 14 at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church, Pastors H. W. Schiller and W. E. Carlson in charge. Interment followed at Rose Hill cemetery.
