Genevieve Thompson, 80, of Riverview Care Center, 701 Riverview St., died of a kidney ailment Wednesday at Hospice Kavanagh House. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield.

Mrs. Thompson was born near Badger and had lived and farmed in the Eagle Grove area many years. She moved to Des Moines in 1992.

Survivors include three daughters, Charlene Overturf of Newton, Shirley McLaughlin of Des Moines and Roberta Coleman of West Des Moines; three sisters, Connie Camp [Kamp] of Humboldt and Mable Odland and Viola Armstrong, both of Eagle Grove; three brothers, Clarence Jacobson and Paul Jacobson, both of Eagle Grove, and Amos Munson of Fort Dodge; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.

Goldfield Chronicle

Genevieve Angeline Jacobson was born on April 29, 1918, to Carl and Carrie Knudson Jacobson near Badger, Iowa. She attended the Badger schools. On April 28, 1937, she was united in marriage to Arthur Thompson at the Samuel Lutheran parsonage in Eagle Grove. They lived on several farms in the rural Eagle Grove area. He died on December 2, 1969. She moved to Des Moines in October of 1992. She was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove and active in various church circles.

Genevieve Thompson, formerly of Eagle Grove, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines, at the age of 80.

Survivors include three daughters, Charlene Overturf, Newton, Shirley McLaughlin and husband, Craig, Des Moines, and Roberta Coleman and husband, Tim, West Des Moines; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Connie Camp [Kamp], Humboldt, Mabel Odland and Viola Armstrong, Eagle Grove; three brothers, Clarence and Paul Jacobson, Eagle Grove, and Amos Munson of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; one daughter, Beverly Olmstead; five brothers Alfred, Theodore, Ben and Elmer Jacobson, and Marion Munson; and three sisters, Burnette Helm, Alma Odland, and Caroline Jacobson.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 1998, at the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Reverend Carlton J. Shaw officiating. Burial was held in Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield.

Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
