GLADYS C. WICKS
Gladys C. Trooien was born October 28, 1905 to Peter and Julia (Thompson) Trooien at Minneapolis, Minn. She attended school in Eagle Grove and Williams, Iowa. On June 2, 1926 she was united in marriage to Homer L. Wicks at Webster City, Iowa. She worked for Wilson and Company in Eagle Grove and also Samuel Lutheran Church where she was the organist and also the custodian. Gladys was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove where she was active in church circles, head of the quilters circle and a member of the Lutheran Church Women. She lived most of her life in the Eagle Grove area.

Gladys C. Wicks, 91, died Friday, August 1, 1997 at the Clarion Health Care Center in Clarion, Iowa. Survivors include her daughters: Lila Johnson and husband Joe of North Branch, Minn.; Betty Lou Jones of Manson, Iowa; Camilla Kosar and husband Adolph of Marshalltown, Iowa; Sharon Flaws and husband Dean of Webster City; Sheila Young of Eagle Grove; Sussie McKinnis and husband Mick of Canehill, Ariz.; son, Bob Wicks and wife Kathy of Warrenton, Va.; daughter-in-law Arlene Wicks of Eagle Grove; 37 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl Vining of Oakland, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Paul Wicks; grandchildren: Donald Boone, William Johnson and David Hanus; great-grandchildren, Brent Wright, Curtis Rink and Meagan Schultz; and one brother, Tom Trooien.

Funeral services for Gladys C. Wicks were held Tuesday, August 5, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. at the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with the Rev. Carlton Shaw officiating. Visitation was Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove.
