Merlin Eugene Wells
22 March 1932 --- 30 May 1994

Merlin Wells, 62, Webster City, died May 30, 1994 at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Hank Jensen officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Military grave-side services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 191. Visitation is after Thursday at Foster Funeral Home until 8 a.m. Friday when the casket will be taken to the church.

Merlin Eugene Wells, son of Samuel and Elsie (Hubbs) Wells, was born March 22, 1932 at Knoxville. He received his education in various schools in Iowa. During the Korean War, he served with the United States Air Force in ground transportation in the Philippines.

On May 10, 1952, he married Lillian Boutin at Chicopee, Mass. The couple resided in Holyoke, Mass. He was employed in mill work. The couple was divorced. He moved to Goldfield, Iowa in 1968 and was employed as a welder in construction work for Todd-Sargeant. On March 18, 1971, he married Mary A. Brock. The couple resided in Goldfield. They later moved to Stanhope and Webster City. He retired in 1988 due to failing health. His wife died Sept. 6, 1990.

He is survived by sons, Kenneth Wells of Enid, Okla.; David Wells of Holyoke, Thomas Wells of Webster City; daughters, Cathy Bihler and Linda Pulaski, both of Westfield, Mass.; step-daughter, Mary Sue LaFollette of Trumann, Ark.; seven grandchildren; brothers, Arthur Wells of Des Moines, Joe Wells of Waukee, John Wells of Florida; sister, Violet Ashley of Beebe, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
