Rodney “Rod” Alan Schipull, devoted husband to Tonia for 33 years and loving father to his daughter Whitney passed away May 7th, 2015 at the age of 61.

Rod was born September 18th, 1953 at Fort Ord, California to Verne and Shirley Schipull. His family moved to Goldfield, Iowa where he was actively involved in the family farm. He took pride in showing his black angus at the county fair. Rod graduated from Goldfield High School in 1971. While in school he was active in choir, band, and played the trombone and piano. He was an avid sportsman during his high school years. While participating in sports it ignited a passion for college and professional sports that he carried out for the rest of his life. Rod also enjoyed golfing and participated in bowling leagues with Tonia.

He attended Luther College for 2 years and later took courses at the University of Missouri. For the past thirty years, Rod has worked in sales. He spent many years working for Korn-feld Thorp Electric Co. and for the past 12 years he was employed at Stanion Wholesale Electric Co. as an Outside Sales Account Manager.

Rod had an infectious smile and a chuckle that would light up a room. He was always willing to help someone in need, even if it was a stranger. He was very meticulous with his yard and took pride in all his projects inside or out.

Rod is survived by mother, Shirley Schipull, siblings, Michael Schipull, Steven Schipull, Ron Schipull and Karen Gard, nephews Logan, Ian, Lucas and niece Erin, and his dog, Kodi. Rod was preceded in death by sister, Darlene Schipull and father, Verne Schipull.

Rod will be remembered for his gentle soul, his humor, and his love for The Missouri Tigers. Whenever we chant “MIZ” we will know somewhere up in heaven, Rod will be chanting back “–ZOU”.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association. Immediately following the services family and friends are invited to our home for a reception.
